Earth: Code Blue is a David and Goliath story of environmental movement. The extensive production of the film has taken place in the United States, Singapore, Malaysia, Sumatra, with the Philippines being the epicenter of the EARTH: CODE BLUE story. The Philippine Islands (over 7000) are considered #1 among the most endemic countries in the world, i.e. it holds exclusive biodiversity that keeps our planet alive. The Global Climate Risk Index 2015 listed the Philippines as the number one most affected country by climate change. The deadliest storm on record in the Philippines – Typhoon Haiyan- known locally as Typhoon Yolanda, was responsible for more than 6,300 lost lives, over 4 million displaced citizens, and $2 billion in damages in 2013. It became a global wake up call and Code Blue for the Earth.

  • Antonio Oposa Jr., author, attorney, environmentalist. Considered an environmental foot soldier, he is currently in the process of “suing the world” in the name of environmental justice.
  • The one time notorious Mayor Ed Hagedorn turned environmental champion. The Mayor has turned Palawan, known as the ‘Last Ecological Frontier’ on Earth, into one of the leading eco-tourist destinations on Earth.
  • Felino Palafox, architect and urban planner in Manila, famous for his “healthy cities”. He is currently rebuilding Nepal into a viable nirvana.
  • Senator Loren Legarda of the Philippines and her reef restoration program on Boracay. At one time, Boracay, considered the #1 Island tourist destination in the world, had its reef system completely destroyed by Haiyan typhoon and through human impact.
  • David Emmett, VP of Asia-Pacific of Conservation International – an organization that for the past 30 years has worked to protect the environment through cutting edge science, global policy and empowerment.
  • Rado Dongoran and Sumatra Rainforest Institute Defenders of the Rainforest and Wildlife. Fighting to save what is left from Sumatra rainforest, risking their lives to fight illegal deforestation and mining and to save critically endangered animal species of Sumatra rainforest.
  • Gina Lopez, environmental crusader, known for her fight against hard rock mines responsible for the severe environmental damage in the Philippines. She has supported a number of successful eco-tourism projects that retrained local mining workers and employed hundreds of villagers.
